Choosing the right wood finish can make a major difference to the appearance, durability and maintenance of your timber. Two of the most popular professional wood-finishing brands offered by Liotatis Timber & DIY Cyprus are Rubio Monocoat and Osmo.

But which one is right for your project?

The answer depends mainly on where the wood will be used, the look you want, how much maintenance you are prepared to do, and whether you want to colour and protect the timber in one coat. Rubio Monocoat: the one-coat approach

Rubio Monocoat is particularly attractive if you want to colour and protect timber in a single application.

It is a two-component hardwax oil designed to colour and protect interior wood in one coat. According to the Liotatis product information, it uses Molecular Bonding Technology to bond with the upper fibres of the timber rather than forming a conventional surface film. Rubio Monocoat for exterior wood

Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector

For outdoor projects where you want to retain the natural character of the timber while adding colour and protection, Liotatis offers Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector. Rubio Monocoat DuroGrit

For interior timber, Liotatis offers Osmo Original Polyx-Oil Clear Satin 3032. This is a hardwax oil intended for applications including wooden floors, parquet, doors, kitchen worktops and furniture. One of the advantages of Polyx-Oil is its versatility. Osmo Decking Oil

Liotatis stocks Osmo Decking Oil in several colours, including Thermowood 010 and Teak 007.

Osmo Decking Oil is designed to protect, maintain and beautify exterior wood. Its microporous finish allows the timber to breathe while providing water and dirt resistance. For Osmo Decking Oil, Liotatis specifies two coats, with approximately 12 hours drying time and a satin finish. This makes it particularly suitable when you are finishing:

You are finishing decking. Osmo Decking Oil is specifically designed for exterior decking and provides a water- and dirt-resistant microporous finish.

You prefer a conventional two-coat exterior oil system. Osmo Decking Oil is specified by Liotatis as a two-coat product, giving you a straightforward application process where two coats are preferred.
